Soil Stabilisation Works?

FAQ's

What is soil stabilisation?

Q1

Q1

Q1

Soil stabilisation is a strategy for enhancing soil strength and durability. By mixing binding materials like lime or cement into the soil, it improves bearing capacity and resistance to weather, ensuring stable foundations and infrastructure. This method offers cost-effective and environmentally friendly construction solutions.

Is it suitable for contaminated ground?

Yes, soil stabilisation is a cost effective solution to dealing with contaminated ground. It involves treating the soil with binding agents or chemical additives to lock in contaminants, reducing their mobility and potential harm. This method not only improves the soil's physical properties for construction but also mitigates environmental risks, making it a viable solution for developing previously unusable or contaminated sites.

Can soil stabilisation be used for all types of construction projects?

Soil stabilisation is a versatile technique applicable to a wide range of construction projects. Whilst its viability can depend on specific project requirements and soil conditions, it is a strategy suitable for most projects.  It is commonly used in road construction, infrastructure development, commercial and residential building projects, and land reclamation.

How do you determine the best soil stabilisation method for a project?

We work with a Geotechnical team who will review the ground analysis and build a remediation strategy for each individual project.

How is it applied to the ground?

Stabilisation can be performed either in situ (in the ground) or ex situ (out of the ground) often depending on the aim of the stabilisation process as well as the regulatory program under which the work is performed.
